I'm happy to share two new Valentine printables to gift to your Valentines this year. "We go together like... (milk & cookies, the stars & sky, etc.) You can choose to print a set of cards with the wording I selected, or you can print a set of cards with a blank area for you to add your own ideas. Both sets are free for you to enjoy. Download links are available at the end of this post.
After cutting out the cards, I brushed the edges with a gold stamp pad, and simply tied them with a velvet ribbon to gift to my Valentines.

Most of us have several, or dozens (that's me) of cookbooks in their collection. Today I'm happy to share with you a set of two free printable bookplates - perfect for Mother's Day or that special cook or baker in your life. One set features a whimsical retro style and the other a classic vintage style. All together there are 12 bookplates to choose from, or to mix and match. Here is the first set.
and the vintage style set
I print the bookplates onto a full sheet label (8 1/2" x 11" / Avery 8465) so once cut, they can be placed directly onto the cookbook page. You could also print them onto cardstock and use acid-free glue or acid-free double stick tape for attachment. The bookplates are aligned for easy and accurate cutting with a rotary or paper cutter. All you have to do is write in the personalized name or leave blank for your recipient to add later.
For gift giving, simply tie them with a pretty bow and slip into an envelope or small gift box. Friends and family, hostesses, brides, and of course our loving moms will appreciate them.
To print your bookplates, simply click on the links at the end of this post to access the pdf files. (Don't worry if your images look a bit fuzzy on your monitor, they will print out crystal clear.)

If you would like to share these on your blog, please be kind and add a link for your readers directly back to this post, rather than copying the pdf file onto your blog. Enjoy!

With Easter just a few short weeks away, I'm delighted to share my template for these easy DIY Easter paper cones with gift tags. (Link to pdf file provided below.)
They are the perfect size for presenting Easter treats. Just nestle them inside, or bundle them in tissue paper, tulle or fabric and cinch with a bow. Tuck them into Easter baskets, or with the addition of a ribbon handle, hang them from mantels, wreaths or door knobs.
The cones can also be used for small floral bouquets. To keep the flowers fresh, just insert the stems into plastic flower vials. (I always save mine from any arrangements I receive.)
Directions: Print the template onto cardstock. I chose kraft and blush color paper to compliment the sepia tone graphic. Cut the cone out, along the solid lines. (I cut the top of mine with scalloped scissors, but straight edge scissors would work as well.) Score and fold, along the dotted line. This space is the tab where you will apply glue, or double-sided tape to hold your cone together. After forming the cone, punch two small holes on each side, 1/2" down from the top. Thread ribbon from the inside of the cone to the outside, through the first punched hole. Leave a ribbon length of 4" on the outside of the cone and then tie a knot near the hole. Allow a length of ribbon for the handle, and then thread the remaining hole and tie a knot, again leaving a ribbon tail of 4". Cut out the gift tag and tie it around the knot on one side of the cone. (Supplies used to create my cones: Midori Ribbon, Stampin' Up Cardstock & hair flowers by me).

With our unusually warm weather (it will be in the 60's tomorrow), my thoughts are turning to spring. This weekend I made a couple of these linen bunnies. I stuffed one with fiberfill and the other with lavender. At 6.5" tall, they would be charming grouped together in a display, or added to an Easter basket.
I tied a vintage religious medal around the neck and a sewed a paper rose for the tail. A button or found rhinestone piece would also work well as a tail. If you'd like to make your own, I've provided a template for the bunny below. Simply print out the file on cardstock, cut out the template and trace two pieces onto your choice of fabric. Bright colorful prints would be adorable too. Sew along the traced line and leave a 1.5" opening to add the filling. Trim edges to 1/8" and turn right side out. Press, add filling, and stitch opening closed. If you create your own bunnies, please share your photos. I'd love to see them!
(April 2014 update: We now have a sweet little Easter Chick pattern to accompany our bunny. For details visit this post.)

I especially love entertaining this time of year. The days are shorter and there's nothing like spending time in the kitchen preparing a wonderful meal to be enjoyed with friends on a cool fall evening. Whether I'm preparing homemade pizza, or beef bourguignon, I love adding special touches to the table. Place cards are a great way to do just that. A favorite of mine is my leaf place card.
Today, I'm happy to share a free download of my template for you to create your own place cards. Print out the template on card stock (I used 67 lb paper in cream), and then cut out each leaf. I have two great tips for cutting intricate curves. The first is to maneuver the paper as you cut, not the scissors. Secondly, a small pair of scissors will be your best friend. I love these curved ones from Fiskars. They are available at Michael's for under $10 and I use mine all the time.
After I cut the leaves out, I add my guests' names and then dab chalk ink on the edges to give them a bit of color. For a more three dimensional effect, I score the center using a bone folder and straight edge. Gently fold the crease toward the center of the leaf and with your fingers curl up the edges slightly here and there.
Your guests' names can be added by freehand, or you can open the template in photoshop, or another software program, and add the names there using the font of your choice.
The leaves can be used alone, or tied to a fall decoration. Above I've used felted acorns and jute twine. Pine cones, walnuts or a fresh pear would also be nice. You can even rest them on top of a wine glass.

We're celebrating a birthday and as my gift to you, I'm sharing a pdf file of the birthday flags we made. A few of the designs can be used any day of the year to top off your cupcakes or other desserts. All you have to do is print out the pdf file, cut out the flags and attach them to wooden skewers, dowels or straws using a glue stick. Use your fingers to gently form a couple of curves in each flag.

With all of the delicious summer fruit available, I made a peach and blueberry crumble instead of a traditional birthday cake. Super easy and super delicious! If you would like my recipe just leave a comment and I'd be happy to share it with you.
This Valentine's day, my gift to those dear to me will be a list of the things I love about them. Inspired by the sonnet, "How Do I Love Thee?" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, I designed these little numbered cards to write down some of the many reasons they mean so much to me.
As my gift to all of you, I am providing a free download of the cards, numbered one through twelve, to use in creating your own Valentines. To present your cards to your loved ones, simply tie them with a beautiful ribbon, or punch a hole in one corner and insert a metal ring. Place your cards in an envelope and your Valentine will receive a gift they will truly appreciate.

I printed my cards on ivory card stock and used scalloped edge scissors to cut them out, however any pair of scissors will do. For an added touch, I also applied chalk ink to the edge of the cards. Enjoy!
