This year we decorated our gingerbread cake with vintage tree and deer cupcake toppers. With a dusting of powdered sugar, our forest was soon covered in snow.
Another treat we always have on Christmas morning is kolache. My mom baked these for us growing up and I continued the tradition once I was married. The dough takes quite a bit of time to rise, so I make them on Christmas Eve and then reheat them for a few minutes on Christmas morning. Then we all settle in to open our Christmas stockings and enjoy our kolache.
