Classic Comforts

I love my hot water bottle.  Before I go to bed each night I slip it under our down comforter to ensure my side of the bed will be cozy and warm.  I made the cover with 100% wool felt - so soft! Before I purchased the actual bottle, I read a lot of reviews and decided on the Fashy brand. It stays warm all night and I would highly recommend it.  A classic comfort, and a wonderful handmade gift, especially with the addition of a personalized monogram.

Moss Covered Easter Eggs

 

The rain has been falling steadily all day and looking outside my window I can happily see that everything is already becoming greener - a sure sign spring is almost here.  I treated myself to a day of craft making and my first project were these moss covered eggs.

I used an assortment of different types of moss, which I hot glued onto small styrofoam eggs (approximately 2.5" x 3").  The styrofoam eggs and single packages of moss with four different varieties are available at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Sweet girl will be home tomorrow for spring break and my husband will be returning from a week long business trip so I'll be signing off until next week.  I can't wait to see them! Have a happy weekend. 

French/Nordic Inspired Easter Eggs

I adore the soft color scheme of French/Nordic country interiors and holiday decor - beautiful whites, creams, browns and silvers, with touches of pastels.  Last year, I enjoyed creating large decoupaged Easter eggs, inspired by this style, and this weekend I made a few new designs.

A favorite with customers last year, I'm happy to offer a very limited number of these in my shop this season.

We Always Have Paris

It's always a pleasure to be featured in Etsy treasuries, and I should share them more often on my blog.  This one highlights a favorite destination so it was particularly nice to have my burlap runner, with Paris screen print, included.  It's a lovely treasury and I've enjoyed visiting many of these shops.  Clicking on any picture, will bring you right to the individual shop.

Spring Bulbs!

When I arrived home yesterday afternoon, I was so excited to discover these little beauties waiting for me in our mailbox.  Okay, well they aren't quite beauties yet...but they will be! They actually look like miniature dried up bananas right now, but they will grow into gorgeous white and pink ranunculus.

If the weather continues to be warmer like today, I'll soon be able to plant the bulbs in our new cutting garden.  I can already picture placing them in arrangements with the English garden roses we planted last year.  After a long, cold and dark winter, it's enough to make a girl swoon!

From the Kitchen

I love spending time in the kitchen and always appreciate discovering little tips which make cooking and baking even more enjoyable.  As a new feature on my blog, I thought I'd occasionally share some of my favorite tips.  Last evening, I made pizza which brings me to my first tip.  Have you ever had to open a can of tomato paste, when you only needed one or two tablespoons?  I used to put the extra in a container in the fridge hoping I would use it up.  But all I seemed to do was toss it out after it went bad.  Now when I open a new can, I measure out one tablespoon increments and place them on a small tray lined with parchment paper.  I pop the tray in the freezer until the tomato paste completely freezes and then I place all of the lovely little tomato paste balls in a freezer bag.  Next time I need one or two tablespoons of tomato paste, I just retrieve them right from the freezer and easily add them to my recipe. No mess of measuring each time and I'm able to use the entire can.  

French Bistro Dinner Napkins Back in Stock

I'm delighted to announce that my Parisian inspired cloth dinner napkins are once again listed in my shop.  I have increased the size to a generous 20" and they are sewn from a wonderful 100% cotton fabric that feels softer to the touch with each wash.  As before, they are available in sets of four, are machine washable, and hand screen printed.  Bon Appetit!
