Some of my friends and family may think I'm a bit crazy upon opening my kitchen cabinets and discovering that I store all of my dishes with felt rounds placed in between them. However, I'm truly convinced it helps keep scratches and chips at bay. I'm meeting a friend, and fellow dish lover, for lunch tomorrow who just purchased a beautiful new set of dinner plates. As a gift for her, I made this set of felt protectors for her new dishes. As an added embellishment, you can tie an antique spoon or serving piece to the ribbon.
When purchasing your felt for this project, look for a higher quality felt by the yard (generally it's just a few more dollars a yard than basic craft felt). I make a template out of poster board, a couple inches larger than the size of the dish, and use this to draw my circles on the felt using a disappearing marker. It's a super easy, but very much appreciated gift.
