Christmas Cones

 

A selection of Victorian inspired Christmas cones have been added to my Etsy shop, and can be found under the "Holiday" section.  They are a a perfect addition to your holiday table, mantel, or tree.  Hang one in the center of a wreath or on the back of your dining chairs. Filled with holiday treats or small gifts, they are a delightful hostess gift or welcomed surprise when placed at your dinner guests' place settings.

Holiday Collection Frame Preview

Thought I'd share a preview of a few of my new designs which will be introduced at my upcoming holiday shows.

I love the combination of the dark chocolate brown hand-blocked paper with the Italian script.  I located a supply of rhinestone buttons, which are very similar in shape to the lace-like pattern, and they became the perfect embellishment.

Black and white/cream frames are always one of my most popular sellers.  This year I paired a script and ink pen decorative paper with an embossed floral background.   The simple, but elegant, design allows me to embellish the frame with large crystal and sterling silver beads.

I love the richness of these four different handmade papers and the way they blend effortlessly into one another.

When designing frames, I think about what colors are popular in current design trends, such as this robin's egg blue.  I love the texture of this paper and created a row of folds with a scalloped edge.  As always, a great big thank you to my sweet girls for happily allowing me to use their photographs.  Long time customers who visit my shows have literally watched them grow up through my pictures.

Floral Inspired Journals

I've been busy in the studio creating some new journals.  I love the combination of the botanicals mixed with a touch of graphic design elements.  

As with most of my designs, they would not be complete without a touch of vintage paper or embellishments.

Shop Update

I've added a new selection of vintage rhinestone hair accessories to my shop.  Thank you again to all the brides-to-be who purchased my earlier pieces.  I'm so honored to know that something from my collection will be worn on your wedding day!  Here's a peek at some of my new pieces, fun for everyday or that special day!

18th Century Inspiration

My daughter has taken an interest in fashion design and has been renting movies, such as Sophia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette, featuring 18th century French costumes.  Inspired as well, I created a few journals with this era in mind and have placed them in my shop.

Vintage Wallpaper Creations

 

Received some lovely vintage wallpaper this week and combined them with some of my favorite buttons and vintage jewelry findings to create some new picture frames.  I'll be listing these in my Etsy shop by this weekend, along with a few others.  This one would be so sweet as a baby frame.

 

 

Hope I'm able to purchase more of this paper.  Had just enough to make this one large frame.  I just love the color combination.

 

 

Couldn't resist placing the baby photo in this one as well.  Too cute.

 

   

Hmmm, may have to keep this one for myself.  It looked so nice in my dining room.  Definitely need to get more of this pattern too.

 

 

Planning on attending the Big Flea antiques market at the Dulles Expo Center this weekend.  Need to replenish my vintage sheet music and rhinestone findings.  At last year's show, I came across the most beautifully carved, off-white, chippy frame that I wanted to use for a chalkboard in our kitchen.  Thought it was a little too high in price, and passed on it - big mistake - it would have been perfect. 

Bridal Bliss

    

Fabric was my first love; so you can imagine how much I enjoyed visiting the bridal department at G Street Fabrics to select material and trims for the frames in my bridal collection.  I found the most beautiful pale blush and ivory dupioni silk as well as this lovely alencon lace trim.  I have a small collection of vintage rhinestone barrettes which would be perfect embellishments for the frames...that is, if I can part with them.

Urban Vintage Collection

    

I'm happy to introduce the Urban Vintage Collection - my new line of frames and journals.  The collection reflects my love of combining old manuscripts, ledger papers, vintage wallpaper and rhinestone findings from jewelry and buttons.  Many of these will be featured as "one of a kind" creations and are now available in my shop. 

 

 

Thinking ahead to warmer temperatures, I also created a few designs for the upcoming Spring Collection.  I love mixing the prints of antique botanicals with vintage ledger or dictionary pages.

 

 

Cute as a Button Magnets

 

Thank you to all of my dear customers who have been waiting so patiently for me to restock my magnets since my last show.  I am setting aside some for my etsy shop and will be adding additional ones as soon as I get them photographed.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.  We're off tomorrow morning for a college tour in Delaware.  Our daughter's first decision letter came this week.  She was so excited to learn she was accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design.  It's not her first choice, as she would like to be closer to home (yea!), but she received an annual scholarship so she'll definitely be considering it.  It's an exciting, as well as anxious time, as we await the decisions!

Busy Creating

After a wonderful and relaxing vacation, I'm happy to report that I'm out of my pj's, dressed and looking forward to the upcoming new year.  I'm embarrassed to admit that I've actually collected packages from both our UPS man and mailman wearing my pj's.  I believe on one occasion I was wearing my comfy J. Crew flannel pj pants paired with a blouse and pearls!  (I guess on that particular day I almost made it out of my pj's.)  Anyway, I've been very busy ordering new paper, embellishments, and supplies and have wasted no time jumping back into my studio and using them to create some new items for my shop.  I'll have so much more to share over the coming weeks.  Here are a few of the items I listed in my shop today. 

  

Mini journals.  I love this one - perfect for that special Valentine!

 

I made these French inspired photo/memo/placecard holders for my holiday shows and they completely sold out.  I have a new supply in the shop now and they can be ordered in multiple numbers for special occasions and weddings.

     

Bookmarks featuring filigree heart and buckle charms, ready to be placed in our new books we received over the holidays.

New Holiday Items for Shop
