With the major renovation decisions and purchases for my new studio/office out of the way, I've been able to concentrate on my favorite things - the little details. Currently, my cutting tools are hanging on the wall next to my cutting table which wasn't exactly working for me. I wanted to store them laying down, so I decorated some lucite trays to keep on my table. It's amazing what monogrammed trays sell for when it takes just minutes to make them yourself.
Since my new office is white and grey, I chose one of my favorite handmade papers in these colors to line the trays. I used my Silhoutte Cameo to cut the monograms, but stencils could be used as well.
To protect my tools and cut down on noise, I also placed two pieces of heavy weight felt in between the tray and decorative paper.
The lucite trays were purchased from the Container Store (13" x 8" x 2 1/4" sells for under $12). Acrylic box frames from Michael's can also be used, simply by removing the cardboard frame backs. I'm definitely going to keep these in mind for future gift giving.
