The first cookbook my husband and I purchased after we were married was The Joy of Cooking, and the first recipe I made from it was baked custard. It was a favorite of ours, and after making some this weekend I have to agree it still is.
Wish I could remember what dish I was making that seems to have splattered the pages. My cookbook collection continues to grow, but there will always be a place for this one. It's like visiting an old friend.
