I love to accent our classic everyday white dinnerware with colorful salad plates or soup bowls. Last fall, in preparation for Thanksgiving, I started searching for a set of brown transferware salad plates. I loved the idea of brown, but couldn't find a pattern that I fell in love with. Thanksgiving came and went, and I was still searching. Last week on Etsy, I came across this Bird of Paradise pattern by Johnson Brothers, of England and I knew my search was over. I quickly emailed the seller asking if a set was available and a few days later they safely arrived on my doorstep!

The pattern offers the detailed browns I was hoping for and I love the complimentary colors of the fruit, birds and flowers. Another special touch is the fluted edge of the plate which reminds me of my favorite decorative pie crust edge when baking pies. They pair perfectly with my copper chargers and I'm sure I'll be using them long before Thanksgiving!
